Bluebird Box Tour at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge
Limited to 15 persons, 12 years and up. Please register on our site (for free!) Day pass is $3/vehicle.
DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge hosts a Bluebird Nest Box program for the conservation and population recovery of Eastern Bluebirds and other cavity-nesting birds, such as the Tree Swallow. Join volunteer Michelle on a tour of the boxes, information on nesting habits and the records kept for the program.
Stay a little longer after the program!
Tour inside the Visitors Center to enjoy the wildlife exhibits, explore The Bertrand Museum and stop by the gift shop.
Do some more bird watching over DeSoto Lake
Leave some time to drive the refuge auto tour to the Bob Star Wildlife Overlook viewing blind to spot the eagle nest and possibly catch some additional waterfowl on the lake.
Hike any of the trails as weather permits.
There will be off trail walking outdoors on refuge on this tour, so please wear comfortable footwear and dress in layers for the weather. Consider sunscreen and bug spray. Bring water to drink. Indoor restrooms available at the visitors center, outdoor restrooms available near Cottonwood trailhead.
